Ortega LOVES volunteers! In fact, volunteers are on our campus everyday helping Ortega students become independent, confident learners with the skills necessary to meet the challenges in their future.

Whether it is in the classroom, on the PTO board, in our beautiful garden, in the library, selling popcorn or popsicles, or any of the other opportunities described below - Ortega cannot run without volunteers like YOU!

Garden Volunteer

Help set up, sell concessions, or be part of the clean up crew!
Carnival Volunteer
Sign up to help at Ortega's Carnival on Friday April 26th
Parking Lot Attendant | Put out cones, direct parking lot traffic for a smooth morning drop-off, and help students out of the car. |
Popsicle Sales | Roll freezer out from the PTO room to Kinder yard (for TK/Kinder) or front of school (Grades 1-5), sell popsicles, roll freezer back to the PTO room and ensure it is plugged in. Popsicles sales happen on Wednesdays, weekly. |
Popcorn Sales | Setup the popcorn machine, pop and bag popcorn, sell popcorn, and clean popcorn machine. Training required for use of popcorn machine. Sales happen on Fridays, once a month. |
School Garden Volunteer | Join in on garden work days. Come help maintain the garden! |
Staff Appreciation Volunteer | Assist Activities Coordinators with the planning and implementation of various appreciation events. |
Carnival Volunteer | Help with games, food sales, activities, and ticket sales for the Ortega Carnival! |
Volunteer Forms (Live Scan)
All adults that wish to volunteer at Ortega (especially as a chaperone on Ortega's driving field trips or in-class volunteer) must go through the Live Scan process for Pacifica School District. You can get Live Scanned at the UPS store in Rockaway Beach (446 Old County Road, Suite 100) by scheduling an appointment here. To see additional Live Scan locations click here. The process can take a few weeks to complete, so it's important to submit the forms as soon as possible.
